ClubReq
Interviews Made Simple.
You'll never have to choose between hiring fast and hiring the best.
Request
ClubReq came to Eightfold as a start-up aiming to change how companies hire. The team envisioned a first-round interview platform that guaranteed a speedy turnaround from application to interview. By harnessing the power of AI matching with the expertise of freelance, industry-expert interviewers, ClubReq wanted a product that would make smart hiring both fair and effortless.
To bring this vision to life, ClubReq needed a workhorse web app integrating applicant tracking systems, video chat, calendars, transcription, and AI matching. More importantly, this platform needed to serve 3+ user types concurrently: hiring managers, freelance interviewers, and interviewees. The team needed product and concept development, branding, content, and a marketing site to support the app.

Execution
Start-to-finish, we worked as ClubReq’s strategic partner to design, build, iterate, and market the interview platform.
Product Strategy
As the project unfolded, our team helped iterate the company’s product & marketing vision.
Originally targeted at enterprise companies, ClubReq is beautifully suited for a different demographic: fast-growing, small-to-medium sized businesses. These companies often need to hire rapidly, but don’t have the proper HR resources to do so. ClubReq is the perfect tool for these needs, turning weeks or months of hiring into days.
Eightfold helped pivot both the product and marketing materials to focus on this market.

Key Technologies
The core platform was built using NestJS as a backend, React for the frontend, and some industry standard tools and technologies; An S3 compliant storage backend, Zoom for video, Twilio for SMS messaging, Stripe for Payments, Sendgrid for email messaging, and Cloudflare for DNS hosting.
We built the backend using a GraphQL interface instead of REST, as it allowed our team of frontend developers to iterate on the client-side with the data they needed.
One of the unique challenges with the platform was the video integration. Originally, we spec’d out, and started building against, Twilio's video SDK. Unfortunately, it was announced late last year that Twilio would be deprecating the Video SDK, and began to push people towards Zooms Video SDK. While that move did take some time, as we have custom interfaces around the video room itself, we were able to accomplish that, and leave ClubReq with a longer-term product that won’t disappear shortly after their core beta launch.

Strategic Partnership and Business Strategy
As ClubReq’s vision grew and developed, Eightfold worked closely with the investor group and ambassador team to turn around revisions in an iterative, feedback-based process. Our team is continuing to market and bring ClubReq to the world as it grows and gains traction with businesses nationwide.
We remain in partnership with ClubReq as they progress through the transition from MVP to initial funding. This includes web updates, platform upgrades/maintenance, and promotional materials.
